For a few weeks now we have been watching these lily like plants send up singular tall stalks from their centers. There are three in the “shrub garden” and a couple near the tool shed, and a coupe more out in the front landscaping. After a couple weeks the ends of each stalk started to form bulbs that kind of looked like a cross between a poppy pod and a spring onion.
Then this week they started to open…
The three plants in the “shrub garden” area opened into these purple puff blossoms. They have the same look to them as dandelion puffs have but they are purple of course and each puff sits on top of a shoulder height (my shoulder height)stalk.
They are really quite odd and yet kinda pretty. Anyone know what they are?
