Since the tile only went halfway up the wall that left the top half of the wall covered in sheetrock. Since it would be difficult to do a really masterful job of taping a horizontal seam and not having it show the guys decided to tear down the remainder of the sheetrock.
After that was cleaned up they measured and cut the backer-board/cement board for the floor and dry-fit it into place. Dry-Fit
Then they mixed up some thin-set (very thin thin-set) and they smooshed it all around on the floor.
After that was all smooshed around they screwed the backer-board down onto the floor.
Hubby then added some fiberglass tape for the seams and added a little more thin-set into the gaps and scraped it to make sure it was down in there.
The floor is now prepared for tiling. I placed all of the full tiles I could last night and it looks as though we won’t have too many weird cuts, and we will have a lot of extra tile we can return to Loew’s.
Sorry if this post wasn’t truly exciting – I have decided I am tired of bathroom renovations. I wish the Bathroom Renovation Fairy would come and finish it over night. I think we all feel that way.
Jess you sound like you’re tired of bathroom renovations. Once it’s done, you won’t have to do it again for a LONG time. Yeaaaaaaa.
