I am not sure if I told you this but we the last post could have ended with “And the tub surround is finally installed” however a slight clerical error pushed the job back another day.
It turns out that the measurements for the plumbing did not not take into account the decorative “bump” in the shower surround and therefor the was too far back. The pipes were only an inch or so short but that was just enough to make Hubby and Fil (Father-in-law) have to move all of it.
So my Father-in-law felt badly that our shower surround was taking longer than expected so once again he came by after work and helped us out! He sure is a super guy!
On to the suspenseful teaser from the last line of yesterday’s post….
Yep! You guessed it. The wall behind the plumbing became a non-wall behind the plumbing. Hubby and Father-in-law determined that the easiest way to move the plumbing forward slightly was to cut a person size hole in the wall to expose it. I took their word for it. Here is how they moved the plumbing forward and supported it.
Then they started screwing the tub surround to the studs! Woohoo for power tools!
FYI: The next two pictures show our beautiful new faucet and shower head. Although I do like looking at them every day and I think to myself “Self- that is some nice oil-rubbed bronze isn’t it?” I must make mention here just how ridiculous the cost of faucets are. It’s ridiculous. LOL! I know we aren’t the only people in the universe to purchase faucets, shower head, etc so I am sure you all know what I am talking about here. We went with what we wanted and this set cost $180.00
Next, the guys sealed all the seams with the silicone.
FIL really got down in there to make sure all of the silicone sealed everything up tight!
FINALLY! – TAAA-DAAA!!!! Look at our brand-new shiny beautiful tub/shower surround! WOOHOOO!!! I really do love hopping into the shower now. Its so clean and white!
Hubby demo-ed the rest of the bathroom walls this weekend and I will show you the progress soon. The renovation is coming along and pretty soon we will be able to show complete “before and after” photos. Although it is taking longer than Hubby expected I think we are right on track!
Who’s beard face? He’s cute.
Its Beard Facé !!!
