Since we moved we haven’t really been out to eat much. Not that we haven’t wanted to eat out, we just have been pretty content with the Wegman’s and the scrumptious home-cookin’ I have been doing.
So one day on our vacation week before Christmas we decided head out and try a local diner. We used to go to the Budd Lake Diner and we aren’t sure any Diner can compare anymore but we were willing to get out there and give some places a chance.
We tried the Somerville Diner. I would rate it as fair and we probably won’t go back but we didn’t get food poisoning or die so I guess it wasn’t THAT bad.
I got a meatloaf sandwich – it was meatloaf special day and I really can’t resist meatloaf.
Hubby got a patty-melt. He is quite a patty-melt connoisseur and can be particular. I can’t blame him for being picky since the perfect patty-melt can be a thing of beauty and a patty-melt done wrong is really disappointing. I could tell this patty-melt (just from looks) wasn’t going to be anywhere near “the best” patty-melt Hubby had ever had. I was right.
Like I said we ate it and didn’t die and felt satisfied (as you can tell).
You should try Louka’s Last American Diner on 22 East, near the big Shop-rite. It’s a ’50s-style diner with good food, big portions, decent prices.
You should try the Millville Queen on Broad Street, near the section 8 housing. It’s a bit gourmet, however, so expect something great!

Just go to the food bar at Shop Rite or Wegmans. I hate Wegmans. Went there for a single piece of cheese and spent $140.00 !

No, not yet. Honestly we don’t go down Rt 22 that often – we will have to check it out.
