Bathroom Renovation – Floor Tile

We finally picked some tiles for the bathroom floor a couple weeks ago. We went ahead and bought what we needed (plus some extra) so that we would have them ready for when we were ready.

We found them at Lowe’s and they are a good mix of what we both wanted. They are smooth like Gary wanted and have the slate look like I wanted. The pictures here don’t show the true color because the overhead light is terrible and the pink tiles were reflecting onto them.. blehh!

The tile was called “Canyon Slate” and is described as: A glazed porcelain designed to have a natural slate appearance and easy maintenance. Here is a pictures from the Lowe’s website which also don’t accurately reflect the color but its kind of close. The batch of tiles we chose have a nice veining mixture of grays, greens, with little sparkly flecks of gold. Different lots of tiles can look extremely varied so you will have to come see the tile for yourself or I will have to take better photos once it is installed 😉

We placed a few tiles on the floor to see how the pattern would look in our room. In the store it was displayed on a diagonal so we gave it a try the best we could without actually cutting any tiles since we aren’t ready to install the floor yet.

Here is the diagonal pattern (Don’t mind the junk in the background this was right before we were going to demo the bathroom and were still using the “Serial Killer Shower”.)

We weren’t sure if the diagonal worked with our entry way, and our bathroom layout so, Trixie suggested we try the pattern squared off.

And we all decided that the squared off pattern was our favorite. Lucky for us that will require less cutting as well! Yipeeeee!
