Jebba Hubba, Hubby, Baby Bubba and the Kitty Combo!

The baby is thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big! (He wanted to document the baby bump “accurately” so he made me hold the dollar bill for comparison. FYI: Baby is one day overdue.)

For the Baby

I am out of work on Maternity leave and getting some good rest – my feet/ankles have been swelling a lot less and I have had some time to get things ready for the baby.

I decided to paint a picture for his room so I started by sketching the scene and then outlining everything in black paint to get a cartoony feel.

I added color and cleaned up the black outlines and added a white outline to everything to give it a bit more contrast. I think the baby will really like it – I hope he does because it made my hands numb painting it. (Sorry for the bad picture – took it with the cellphone.)

So. Jersey Reporter has sent in his latest excursion photos – with captions! – for our viewing pleasure.

Riverwalk view with green St Paddys day river

Overlooking the River Walk at San Antonio, home of the Alamo

The Alamo. (see PeeWee’s big adventure for details)

Chicken fried steak at LuLu’s , This wasn’t the biggest one.

feed 5 people with this ONE cinnamon bun. Makes cinnabon at the mall look silly.

LuLu’s fare. ONE cinnamon bun , one chicken fried steak and a little eggs and potatoes on the side (for tradition).

Flintstone sized ribs. Chowing on some ribs wearing white clothing. Brave!

Basinesting!

Basinesting! Yes I made up that word. Its Basinette and Nesting combined..and it seems appropriate. I thought it was time to really start getting everything ready for the little bundle of joy that is coming soon. It didn’t take hubby long and it wasn’t that difficult either – I should know, I supervised the project.

All done!

So pretty! Baby’s Great Mom-Mom (my Mom-mom, my Mom’s Mom) got this for him and it’s super cool. It got that natural rocking motion, is real wood, and has a little music/light/vibration attachment for soothing. Yay!

We had a yummy crock-pot roast this past weekend for dinner. It was easy to make, and easy to eat! Here is a VERY detailed step by step tutorial on how to make your very own crock-pot roast.

Open the chuck roast package, pat the roast dry and sprinkle with salt & pepper.

Chop vegetables into similarly sized (not too small) pieces and lightly season.

Brown chuck roast on all sides.

Place veggies in crock-pot, put browned roast on top, then top with finely diced vegetables. Add approx. 1 & 1/2 cups of beef stock (water works fine too). (Make sure you use your fancy new crockpot your sister got your for christmas!) Set time for 4 hours and wait.

Forget to take pictures of meal when it is all done cooking and only take pictures of left overs.

Expansion

Nugget was just trying to get comfortable and I couldn’t resist taking an embarrassing photo of him. Sometimes when a pregnant lady starts expanding her husband or significant other will do the same… I think Nugget thinks he is my significant other.

South Jersey Reporter sent this quick Valentine’s day update with photos:
“Valentines Day (night) was extra special in South Jersey with a perfectly done Prime Rib roast with Broccoli Rabe and sautéed mushrooms on the side. Can’t wait to eat the leftovers.”

Note from Jebba: You can see the steam rising off of that delicious looking food- WOWZERS!! Looks like South Jersey Reporter has his own personal chef! Also, looks like our South Jersey reporter poured himself a big glass of red wine to wash it all down – Yum! North Jersey Valentine’s feast consisted of Hubby and I sharing a turkey sub. We also watched a movie that wasn’t so good… well Hubby watched it and I fell asleep with baby. LOL!

Food for Thought

I came across a fun recipe on Red Bank Patch the other day… Head over there and check out the step by step instructions WITH pictures!

ps: (I totally stole borrowed these images from patch.)

Meat Eaters

Made some ribs this weekend.. Yum! (of course we have 80% of them leftover.. lol!)

Mama’s Bday

It was Mama’s Bday so we had a little party. I made a butter cake with strawberry jam filling, and buttercream icing, Brother Bear made Chicken Curry with broccoli, carrots and rice, and Sister Bear made a Chopped Salad with pancetta, avocado, and homemade dressing.

Of course we had to light some candles and sing…

As the song was drawing to a close Mama Bear took a deep breath and got ready to blow out the candles. *Wooosh* all of the birthday candle blowing air came out – success! (*Please note the blue “air” lines showing the trajectory and the yellow arrow to point out where Brother Bear’s Fiancé was sitting – I think she got knocked out of her chair by that powerful birthday candle blowing force! LOL!)

With all of the candles blown out and birthday wishes in place, we cut the cake.

And topped with some extra jammy jam goodness.

Happy Birthday!!!
